Manoj Tiwary: West Bengal Sports Minister and former Indian cricketer announces retirement

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 37-year-old has represented the Men in Blue in the past, making appearances in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is.

Notably, Tiwary currently holds the esteemed position of West Bengal Sports Minister, reflecting his commitment to both sports and public service. Besides his achievements at the national level, Tiwary also captained Bengal to the final of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23.

In an emotional Instagram post, Tiwary expressed his gratitude to the game of cricket, which he believes has provided him with everything he could have ever wished for. From overcoming life's challenges to achieving success beyond his dreams, cricket has been an integral part of his life.

The veteran cricketer took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt appreciation to those who played significant roles in his journey. He thanked his former teammates, loved ones, and particularly Coach Manabendra Ghosh, who has been like a father figure to him. Tiwary acknowledged that without Ghosh's guidance, he may not have reached the heights he did in the cricketing world. He also wished his coach a speedy recovery, as his health has not been well.

Tiwary also expressed gratitude to his parents for their unwavering support in pursuing his cricketing dreams, emphasizing that they never pressured him to prioritize studies over sports. Additionally, he acknowledged the continuous support of his wife, Susmita Roy, who has stood by his side throughout his journey.

During his cricketing career, Tiwary showcased his talents in various Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, including Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab, and Rising Pune Supergiants. His crowning achievement in the IPL came in 2012 when he secured the title with KKR.
