<p>Mumbai Indians have announced that Lasith Malinga is returning to the franchise as the bowling coach ahead of IPL 2024.</p>
<p>Malinga will join head coach Mark Boucher and batting coach Kieron Pollard as part of the support staff for the 5-time champions. Only days ago, the franchise had announced they had parted ways with previous fast bowling coach Shane Bond.</p>
<p>The Sri Lankan legend, who served as the bowling coach for the Rajasthan Royals since the 2022 season, spent close to 13 years with the Mumbai Indians since the inaugural IPL season in 2008. In 122 matches, he took 170 wickets and was the highest wicket-taker of the competition for a long time.</p>
<p>Malinga won 6 trophies as a Mumbai Indians player, 4 IPL and 2 CLT20 titles. He also served as the bowling coach of the MI New York franchise in the inaugural season earlier this year.</p>

<p>In the final, Australia triumphed over India by six wickets on a slow and sluggish pitch. This rating came amidst reports of India using a previously played-on surface for the semifinal.</p>
<p>The Eden Gardens pitch in Kolkata, the venue for the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa, also received an "average" rating from the ICC. This low-scoring match saw Australia chasing down South Africa's total of 212 with seven wickets lost in 47.2 overs. Javagal Srinath, former Indian pacer and ICC match referee, however, rated Eden Gardens' outfield as "very good."</p>

<p>The highly anticipated Women&rsquo;s Premier League (WPL) auction is all set to take place on 9th December 2023 in Mumbai. A total of 30 player slots are up for grabs in the upcoming auction, with nine of these slots reserved for overseas players.</p>
<p><strong>165 players to go under the hammer</strong></p>
<p>A total of 165 players will go under the hammer during the auction. Five franchises including Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be bidding in this auction to fill the vacant spots of their teams. 104 Indian players and 61 overseas players will take part in the Women's Premier League 2024 auction on Saturday.</p>
<p><strong>Purse available with every team</strong></p>
<p>For the inaugural season, teams were allocated a purse of INR 12 crore. With the addition of the extra INR 1.5 crore, the total purse available for the auction will increase to 13.5 crore.</p>
<p>Gujarat Giants now have the largest purse after releasing 11 players, with INR <strong>5.95 crore</strong> available to them. The remaining sums for other teams are as follows:&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ongoing feud between S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir took another turn on Friday, with the Legends League Cricket reportedly sending a legal notice to Sreesanth. The development follows Sreesanth's claim that Gambhir referred to him as a 'fixer' during a match.</p>
<p>According to India Today, the LLC has stipulated that discussions with Sreesanth will only commence once he deletes the videos criticizing Gambhir from his social media platforms.</p>
<p>LLC authorities said on Thursday that they will conduct an &ldquo;internal investigation&rdquo; after Sreesanth uploaded the scathing video on his Instagram. The LLC said if evidence of misconduct is found, it will be "dealt with strictly".</p>
<p>On Wednesday, the umpires had to intervene and separate the two players. Sreesanth was handed a life ban by the BCCI's disciplinary committee due to his alleged involvement in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal.</p>
<p>However, the ban was reduced to seven years in 2019 by the Supreme Court of India.</p>

<p>Juventus midfielder may face a 4-year ban in a doping case in Italy. He had tested positive for testosterone earlier.</p>

<p>Anti-doping prosecutors in Italy requested a maximum four-year ban for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba on Thursday after the World Cup winner tested positive for testosterone.</p>
<p>Pogba opted not to make a plea bargain with Italy's anti-doping agency, meaning the case will be tried before the country's anti-doping court.</p>
<p>If the four-year ban is confirmed, it could end the 30-year-old Pogba&rsquo;s career.</p>
<p>Four-year bans are standard under the World Anti-Doping Code but can be reduced in cases where an athlete can prove their doping was not intentional, if the positive test was a result of contamination or if they provide &ldquo;substantial assistance&rdquo; to help investigators.</p>
<p>Pogba&rsquo;s positive test was announced in September, stemming from an exam that was carried out after Juventus&rsquo; game at Udinese on Aug. 20. Pogba did not play in the Serie A match but was on Juve&rsquo;s bench.</p>
<p>Pogba has made no public comments on the case.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Humanely, I&rsquo;m sorry for Paul,&rdquo; Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said in October.</p>
<p>The doping case is another negative note for a player who has been bothered by injuries ever since rejoining Juventus from Manchester United in July of last year. He was ruled out of France&rsquo;s run to the World Cup final last year due to a knee injury, played in only six Serie A matches for Juventus last season and two this season.</p>
<p>There&rsquo;s also been a police investigation ongoing in France into allegations that Pogba was targeted by extortionists &mdash; including by his older brother Mathias, who has denied any wrongdoing.</p>
<p>Pogba scored for France in the 4-2 win over Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final. He played in 178 matches for Juventus from 2012-16.</p>
