Hardik Pandya injury update: BCCI confirms all-rounder will miss India vs New Zealand match | World Cup

The BCCI has confirmed that Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the India vs New Zealand match due to his ankle injury.

In a medical update, the Indian board confirmed that Hardik will not be travelling to Dharamsala to face the Black Caps on Sunday, and instead will join the team before the England match in Lucknow.

The statement from the BCCI read, "Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team. He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on 20th October and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England."

Hardik had pulled up during his first over of the Bangladesh match and played no part in the match thereafter. Indian fans will be hoping for a swift recovery for the Indian vice-captain, who provides the necessary balance to the lineup.

While the Men in Blue will face New Zealand this Sunday, they will only play England a week later, on October 29.
