IND vs SA Centurion Test: Pujara's string of poor performances getting longer

Cheteshwar Pujara may have been confident coming into the 1st Test vs south Africa but his miseries seem never-ending. Once known as the backbone of India's batting, Pujara's string of poor performances is haunting India in Test cricket.

Pujara was out for just 16 in the 2nd innings of the Centurion Test vs South Africa. He was out for a golden duck in the 1st innings as well. Pujara now has 9 ducks at the number 3 position, the most at this spot for India in the history of Test cricket. Batting legend Dilip Vengsarkar is on the 2nd spot followed by the India current head coach Rahul Dravid, who has 7 ducks by his name at the same batting position.

Pujara's poor form has put a lot of pressure on India's middle order as he has failed to play the anchor's role lately. The 33-year-old batter has failed to reach the three-figure mark in his last 44 innings.

His last century came in 2019 during the Sydney Test against Australia.
