Hardik Pandya should only play T20s until World Cup, says Ravi Shastri

After missing the spot on the national side for over 6 months due to a back injury, Hardik Pandya has been finally called back for the upcoming 5-match T20I series between India and South Africa which is set to begin on the 9th of June.

While former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri heaped praise on the ace all-rounder, he also suggested that the 28-year-old cricketer should only play the shortest format of the game until the T20 World Cup which will be held in October later this year.

Lauding him for doing the job of 2 players, Shastri said that he will return to the squad either as a batter or as an all-rounder.

The ex-coach went on to add that he has had ample rest and he will continue to have ample rest because that's the only format he should play going into the World Cup.

They shouldn't take the risk of making him play ODI cricket, said Shastri.

Hardik Pandya had a spectacular 2022 IPL season. While the skipper of the new team, Gujarat Titans not only led the team to their maiden win but also contributed with the bat and ball. He scored 487 runs in 15 matches and finished the season with figures of 3/17 in the IPL 2022 final.
