ENG VS NZ: Joe Root becomes joint-youngest English batter to cross 10,000-run mark

Root scored an unbeaten 115 in 170 balls against New Zealand in their first match of the 3-match Test series which also helped the Ben Stokes led side win by 5 wickets. 

At the start of 2021, Joe Root was 10 centuries behind Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. Quickly inching closer, the ex-England skipper is now just 1 century away from equalling their record of maximum Test centuries among active players.In the first Test between England and New Zealand at Lord's, Root continued with his blistering form and smashed his 26th Test century on Sunday. Root also crossed the 10,000 Test run mark has also become only the 2nd English player after Alastair Cook to do so.
Interestingly, both players are the joint youngest English players to achieve the feat at the exact same age, 31 years and 157 days old. While Cook took 229 innings, Root became the fastest England batter to achieve the 10,000 runs in 218 innings. Overall, he is the 14th player and 10th fastest to score 10,000 runs.Root scored an unbeaten 115 in 170 balls against New Zealand in their first match of the 3-match Test series which also helped the Ben Stokes led side win by 5 wickets.
