India's World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev echoed his former teammate Sunil Gavaskar's words regarding current Indian cricket players' attitudes when he spoke to The Week on July 30.

Gavaskar, who told The Indian Express, that no Indian cricketer had come to him for advice in recent years, was backed by Kapil Dev, who exclaimed, 'When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can’t you talk? Why should there be ego? They feel they are good enough.'

The 64-year-old added, 'Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody, who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, won’t hurt. He knows which side the grass grows and where the sun comes out from.'

Team India is facing heavy criticism after they lost the second ODI against West Indies on July 29, with several wondering why did India experiment so much with their lineup.

Kapil Dev praised the young players within the team but also pointed out their flaws saying, 'What’s good about the young players is that they are very confident. The negative part is that they think they know everything. They think they don’t have to seek advice from anyone.'

The shift in players' attitudes, according to Kapil Dev, happened with the advent of the Indian Premier League. He blamed money for the shift.

'Look, change only comes when money also comes. I always feel money is very good; it gives you confidence.'

But he said, when one gets too much money, they get spoiled.

'Everybody can’t handle that. You need guidance; the cricket board today can hire people and give them classes.'
