Rs 47 Lakh seized in South Delhi during routine police check

In a significant seizure, police confiscated Rs 47 lakh in cash from a car during a routine check in Sangam Vihar, south Delhi, on Tuesday. The cash, discovered by the Static Surveillance Team (SST), was unaccounted for, raising questions about its source.

The vehicle was being driven by 24-year-old Vaseem Malik, a resident of Sangam Vihar who identified himself as a scrap dealer. During the check, Malik was unable to produce any documentation to justify the large sum of cash, prompting authorities to seize the money.

Officials are now investigating the origin and intended use of the cash. "We are following all legal procedures to determine the source of the money and whether any laws were violated," a senior official said.

This incident underscores the vigilance of surveillance teams during routine checks, particularly in areas prone to financial irregularities. As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to release further details about the case.
