Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson praises the court's decision for Pastor Bajinder's case

The Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson, Ms. Raj Lali Gill, has commended the court's decision to sentence Pastor Bajinder to life imprisonment until death for his involvement in the Zirakpur rape case.

This decisive verdict, Ms. Gill emphasized, marks a pivotal advancement toward ensuring justice for women and serves as a robust warning that crimes against them will not be tolerated.

In her press release, Ms. Gill articulated her support for the verdict, noting that it underscores the judiciary's resolute commitment to upholding justice. She stated, "This judgment sends a clear message that crimes against women will not be tolerated, and the law will ensure justice."

The Punjab State Women Commission had previously taken suo motu cognizance of the matter, reflecting its proactive stance on addressing crimes against women.

Ms. Gill has also issued a call to action for other survivors of similar offenses in Punjab, encouraging them to come forward with assurances of full support from the commission.

"The Punjab State Women Commission is dedicated to providing comprehensive legal, emotional, and rehabilitative assistance to victims of sexual violence. We urge anyone in need of help to reach out to us. Ensuring justice and safety for women remains our top priority," she affirmed.

This call to action highlights the commission’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where women's rights and safety are paramount.
