PM Modi in U.S.: resetting Indo-American ties under Joe Biden

Now that Trump is history, the prime minister has embarked on a 4-day visit to the U.S. where he will hold several meetings with President Joe Biden. Clearly then, PM Modi’s visit to the U.S. would entail resetting of the ties between the two global leaders.

Both leaders spoke virtually after Biden took oath as the U.S. President in January this year and recently met again at the virtual Quad summit.

In fact, for Biden resetting the Quad agenda and enhancing India’s role in the informal bloc will be pivotal to counter arch rival China. It is also likely that the two leaders along with Australian PM Scott Morrison and Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga will discuss dynamics with Beijing as a part of this meet.

Taliban takeover of Afghanistan is also likely to take the centre stage in the Quad summit that will inevitably bring India and the U.S. closer to counter the China-Pakistan nexus in the war-torn country.
