Urvashi Rautela is on board for Parveen Babi biopic, writer Dhiraj Mishra confirms

Actor Urvashi Rautela recently announced that she will be playing the role of Parveen Babi in her next film. However, a few reports surfaced later denying her claims and calling them ‘bogus’. Now, in an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, writer Dhiraj Mishra has confirmed that the actor is indeed on board for the Parveen Babi biopic.

He said, ‘We started working on the screenplay of this film around two years ago. Wasim Khan, who is also the producer of the film, had suggested to me this idea to work on because I have worked on many biopics before. He felt that I'd be able to do better research for this film.’

‘For the film, I spoke to BR Ishara, who introduced Praveen Babi to the industry. He told me a lot about Praveen Babi. I was also in touch with a lot of her relatives. In the process, my first draft was ready, but during that time Ranjish Hi Sahi (Voot series) was out. So, we took a backseat. However, when I watched the series, it looked like it was more about Mahesh Bhatt than Parveen Babi. So, we again began our work on the film and started looking for our lead actress. We were considering names like Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor but for some or the other reason things could not work out,’ he added.

He shared that he saw Urvashi Rautela performing on ‘Jawani Teri Bijli Ki Taar Hai’, a music video and suggested to the producer to consider her for the role of Parveen Babi.

‘I wanted an actress who has been a part of the industry but isn't a big star and should have her own style. She is also quite popular. And all of these discussions have been going on for the past one-and-a-half months,’ he said.

He added, ‘I was busy with my film Lafzon Mein Pyaar and TV shows, so I could not meet her at that time and later she left for Cannes. Recently, when I was in Srinagar, I came to know that Urvashi liked the script and she also posted about it on social media. It's all rubbish who are saying that she is not doing this film. Urvashi Rautela is on board! And, if she has posted this on Instagram, people should see it with respect. Trolls have a habit to go after anyone and everyone. Whoever is spreading such news that she isn't doing this film is wrong.’
