From perfect bahu to ‘psychotic’ partner? Rupali Ganguly’s stepdaughter alleges dad’s being drugged

Rupali Ganguly has become one of television’s most beloved stars, particularly for her role in Anupamaa on Star Plus.

While she's riding high in her career, rumours about her alleged difficult behavior with co-stars frequently circulate.

The latest controversy involves a claim from someone identifying as her stepdaughter.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a note from Esha Verma, who asserts she is the daughter of Rupali’s husband, Ashwin Verma.

In her post, Esha accuses Rupali of driving a wedge between her and her father, likening the situation to that of Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput.

Although News18 cannot verify the claims, the screenshot has gained traction on social media, reportedly originating from 2020.

Esha wrote, ‘This is absolutely pathetic. Does anyone know the real story of Rupali Ganguly? She has been involved with Ashwin K Verma for twelve years while he was still in his second marriage, during which he had two daughters. Rupali has done nothing but try to separate my sister and me from our father. He lived in California and then New Jersey for about 13-14 years before moving to Mumbai. They have one son together. I’m speaking out because she publicly portrays their marriage as happy, but in reality, she’s controlling and psychotic toward him.’

Esha further claimed that whenever she tries to contact her father, Rupali begins to yell and threaten her and her mother.

She stated, ‘Whenever I call my dad, she screams and threatens both me and my mom. It’s unfair that she has ruined the lives of Ashwin’s real family while claiming to have a true love marriage. She has destroyed others to get what she wants. Honestly, her actions are reminiscent of what Rhea Chakraborty did to SSR. She feeds my dad strange medications and controls his life. Now that I’m 22, I’ve seen this bizarre affair with my father develop since I was just three. Can anyone understand how it feels to know your father has abandoned you for someone after money and power? My life has been impacted deeply by his absence. It’s hard to watch happy families while mine is broken, and my mom had to work two jobs to support us.’

In response to these accusations, Ashwin took to Twitter to deny the claims. He wrote, ‘I do have two daughters from previous relationships, and Rupali and I have always been transparent about my care for them. I understand that my younger daughter still carries pain from the dissolution of her parents’ marriage, as divorce can be a difficult experience for children. However, marriages end for various reasons, and the challenges in my relationship with my second wife were solely between us and had nothing to do with anyone else. My priority is the well-being of my children and my wife, and it saddens me to see anyone dragged into negativity by the media.’

Rupali and Ashwin tied the knot in February 2013 and welcomed their son, Rudraksh, in August of the same year. The couple had been friends for 12 years before deciding to take the plunge into marriage.
