Big Bang Theory spinoff brings back the unsung heroes—get ready for a nerdy nostalgia blast!

A spinoff for Max is in the works, and it’s already signed on three familiar faces from the original series: Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus. Although the series hasn't been officially greenlit yet, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that all three actors are in place with holding deals. The spinoff will be helmed by Big Bang Theory co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre.

Representatives for Warner Bros. TV and Lorre have declined to comment, while inquiries to the actors' reps went unanswered.

Sussman is best known for portraying Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner who became a fan favourite and eventually a series regular. He appeared in over 80 episodes throughout The Big Bang Theory’s run, including the finale.

Posehn played Bert Kibbler, a quirky geologist at Caltech who had a crush on Amy (Mayim Bialik) and appeared in 15 episodes starting in Season 6.

Lapkus played Denise, an assistant manager at Stuart’s comic store and his love interest, across eight episodes in Seasons 11 and 12.

Posehn is also celebrated for his roles on Mr. Show with Bob and David and New Girl, as well as his stand-up comedy career. Lapkus is recognized for her work on Orange Is the New Black and Jurassic World, while Sussman has made memorable appearances on Ugly Betty, Weeds, and Lessons in Chemistry.

If the spinoff proceeds, it will mark the fourth series in the Big Bang Theory franchise, joining the original show, prequel Young Sheldon, and the upcoming spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, premiering October 17.

The original show, which followed a group of scientists and nerds, ran for 279 episodes in its 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019.
