‘Liger’ funding: Vijay Deverakonda quizzed by ED, says 'popularity comes with some side effects'

Actor Vijay Deverakonda was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad for almost 12 hours over the funding of his last release ‘Liger’. Following the questioning, Deverakonda addressed the media and said that the ED needed ‘some clarifications’ and he ‘gave answers to all the questions.’ He added that he was looking at the questioning as an ‘experience’ and mentioned that ‘popularity comes with side effects’.

'I came here today morning. They needed some clarifications and I gave answers to all the questions. You give me so much love and that love gives me popularity and fame. And that popularity comes with some side effects. This is one such thing. But, it’s an experience. It’s life,’ he said.

Earlier, ED also interrogated 'Liger' director Puri Jagannadh and producer Charmme Kaur over the funding. The agency is probing if there was any violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) with regard to payments made to former boxer Mike Tyson, who made a special appearance in the movie.

The investigation comes after Congress leader Bakka Judson filed a complaint about the investments made into the movie. He even claimed that politicians had invested money in ‘Liger’. According to him, this whole process was done to turn their black money into white.
