Oscars 2023 to broadcast all 23 categories after facing flak for removing eight this year

The 2023 Academy Awards will feature live telecast of all 23 award categories after it faced massive backlash for cutting down on showcasing a few awards live in order to save time last year. According to a report by Variety, the news was confirmed by Bill Kramer, the Chief Executive Officer of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

‘We are committed to having a show that celebrates the artisans, the arts and sciences, and the collaborative nature of moviemaking. This is very much what the mission of the Academy is, and I am very hopeful that we can do a show that celebrates all components of moviemaking in an entertaining and engaging way,’ said Kramer.

He added the award function is ‘thrilled’ to be in the position to broadcast all the award categories.
The eight award categories that were barred from airing in 2022 were the original score, live-action short and sound, makeup and hairstyling, animated short, documentary short, production design, and film editing. The trophies of the categories were reportedly given to the winners as they entered the venue.

The nominations for this year will be announced in the month of January.

Oscars 2023 will be hosted by comedian and television host Jimmy Kimmel. The upcoming Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, and it will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
