'Queen of Tears': Kim Soo Hyun-Kim Ji Won starrer scores highest Saturday ratings ahead of finale episode

Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won starrer 'Queen of Tears' on Saturday earned its highest ratings yet ahead of the series finale. The tvN K-drama, distributed by Netflix globally, was reportedly the most-watched drama program of any kind to air on April 27 (Saturday), scoring an average nationwide rating of 21.1 per cent.

'Queen of Tears' shatters records

Nielsen Korea on April 27 revealed the rating for the Saturday episode. With an average nationwide rating of 21.1 per cent, the latest episode marks the popular romantic comedy's highest rating yet. This is a huge feat as 'QoT' also achieved the highest-ever rating for a drama on Saturday.

'Queen of Tears' was just a few points short of matching or possibly surpassing the renowned K-drama Crash Landing On You, which scored 21.683 per cent for its series finale. Previously, they outperformed some legendary Korean dramas in terms of ratings, like 'Reply 1988' and 'Goblin'. Furthermore, it has consistently led the list of Netflix's most-watched non-English TV shows.

About the drama

'Queen of Tears' follows two people with very different upbringings and familial backgrounds who fall in love with each other. With miscommunication and lifestyle differences, their marriage eventually turns sour. Fed up with the monotony of their lives, the husband decides to break free, but things come crumbling down when he comes to know about his wife's sickness. Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won play the primary couple, and the ensemble cast includes Kwak Dong Yeon, Park Sung Hoon, Yoon Bomi, Lee Joo Bin, and others. The finale episode of the show will air today (April 28).
