Priyanka Chopra reveals a Bollywood director wanted ‘to see her underwear’; calls it ‘dehumanising’

Actor Priyanka Chopra recalled a distasteful remark made about her by a Bollywood film director on the set of a movie in which she played the role of an undercover agent.

In an interview with The Zoe Report, Priyanka recounted that while working on a Bollywood film in 2002-2003, she was supposed to seduce a male character. ‘I’m seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing (at a time). I wanted to layer up. The filmmaker was like, ‘No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise, why is anybody coming to watch this movie?'’ Priyanka narrated.

Priyanka further said that the filmmaker didn’t directly say this to her, but to her stylist, and she overheard him. She said his statement ‘was a dehumanizing moment’ and it made her think that her art is not important.
Priyanka quit the film as she ‘didn’t want to see his face every day’. She also paid the production team of the movie whatever money was spent on her on insistence of her father.
Earlier, during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka shared why she didn’t call out the director. She said, ‘I was so scared. I was new in the entertainment business and girls are always told that ‘you don’t want to get a reputation of being hard to work with.’ So I worked within the system.’

Priyanka Chopra was last seen in the Russo Brothers series ‘Citadel’, and the romantic drama ‘Love Again’.
