Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’ dominates Golden Globes, young Owen Cooper makes history

The limited Netflix series Adolescence had a standout night at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, securing multiple honours and continuing its winning streak at major award shows.

The series emerged as one of the evening’s biggest winners, taking home three Golden Globe awards. Sixteen-year-old Owen Cooper created history by becoming the youngest actor ever to win a Golden Globe, for his role as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old schoolboy arrested in a murder case.

The show also won the award for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Actress Erin Doherty added to the series’ accolades by winning Best Female Supporting Actor for a television series, while Stephen Graham won Best Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Made-for-TV Movie for his portrayal of Jamie’s troubled father.

This latest success adds to a series of accolades for Adolescence. Earlier in January, it won awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie. Last year, the show also received several honours at the Emmy Awards.

With his Golden Globe win, Owen Cooper has now achieved a rare feat, becoming the youngest actor to win a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and a Critics’ Choice Award in back-to-back sweeps.

The four-episode series, directed by [Director’s Name], focuses not on who committed the crime involving Jamie Miller, but on the circumstances and challenges that led to the tragedy in his life. In addition to Cooper and Graham, the show stars Christine Tremarco as Jamie’s mother and Amelie Pease as his sister.

According to Deadline, Adolescence crossed over 141 million views within its first three months of release, becoming Netflix’s second most-watched series after Wednesday.
