Matthew Perry's death: 'Friends' cast releases joint statement; says they are utterly devastated by loss

The 'Friends' cast has finally released a statement after the death of Matthew Perry. In a statement shared with ABC News, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc paid tribute to their late co-star.

The cast said they are 'utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew' and they are going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss'. The cast added that their thoughts and love are with Matt's family, friends and everyone who loved him around the world.

‘We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,’ their statement reads.

‘In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,’ the statement continues.

How did Matthew Perry die?

Matthew Perry died by apparent drowning on October 28. He was found dead in the hot tub of his home in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.

A chilling 911 call that made from the actor’s home on the night of his death, which has been released.

In a dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, a man can be heard saying the word ‘drowning.’ ‘Agent 23. Rescue 23. EMS 9 on the radio. In response to the drowning,’ the audio says. Some words were bleeped out.

An autopsy has been completed but toxicology reports are pending. The status of Perry’s cause of death is now listed as ‘deferred’ since it is ‘pending additional investigation.’ Foul play is not suspected in the case.

Family’s statement

Matthew Perry’s family said that they were ‘heartbroken’ by his ‘tragic’ death and appreciated the tremendous outpouring of love.
