Matthew Perry death probe: All about the ‘Ketamine Queen’ Jasveen Sangha

Jasveen Sangha, also known as the ‘Ketamine Queen’, is among the five individuals charged in connection with ‘Friends’ actor Matthew Perry's fatal overdose last year.

Sangha was charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine, maintaining drug-involved premises, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and ketamine, and five counts of ketamine distribution. She faces life in prison if convicted.

Investigators revealed that Mr. Perry obtained the fatal batch of ketamine through a broker, Erik Fleming, who sourced the drug from Jasveen Sangha.

According to court documents, Ms. Sangha supplied Mr. Fleming with 50 vials of ketamine in two separate transactions in the weeks leading up to Mr. Perry's death. The indictment alleges that Mr. Perry first tried the drug on October 13, and Mr. Fleming delivered two large batches to Perry's home on October 14 and October 24. Due to the size of Perry's order, Ms. Sangha even included ‘ketamine lollipops’ as a bonus.

Sangha had also been arrested on March 19, 2024, for selling meth in an unrelated case. During a raid on her home, federal agents seized 79 bottles of liquid ketamine and nearly 2,000 meth pills, revealing the extent of her illegal activities. She was freed on bond.

Matthew Perry, who had long struggled with addiction, was found dead at his home on October 28, 2023, with his death attributed to a ketamine overdose. Besides Sangha, 2 doctors Perry's live-in assistant, and a drug dealer Eric Fleming have also been charged in the case.

Authorities stated that as Perry’s ketamine addiction deepened last fall, the group exploited his vulnerable state for financial gain.

Perry had been undergoing regular ketamine infusions for depression from his regular doctors—doses well below the lethal amount. When these doctors refused to increase his dosage, Perry, desperate, sought out other providers.

Perry’s autopsy, released in December, found ketamine levels in his blood within the range used for general anesthesia during surgery. The medical examiner identified ketamine as the primary cause of death, which was ruled accidental. Drowning and other medical issues were listed as contributing factors. Perry had struggled with addiction for years, dating back to his time on 'Friends,' where he became one of the most beloved television stars of his generation.
