Lady Gaga's 'did five shows with Covid' statement sparks massive outrage: 'Wildly irresponsible'

Lady Gaga's recent bombshell confession has landed her in the hot waters. The pop star, in an attempt to prove that she'll always put her fans first, recently revealed that she continued to perform during her concerts despite testing positive for coronavirus. Her statement has now garnered massive social massive criticism.

Gaga's Covid confession

Gaga spilt the beans at a Q&A session held in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 23, at the premiere of her new HBO concert special, Gaga Chromatica Ball. The 'A Star is Born' actor made a striking appearance at the event in a white ensemble that even featured a part of a car. During the interactive session, she revealed that she had performed five shows on the Chromatica Ball tour after testing positive for COVID-19.

"I shared it with everyone on my team, and I said, 'I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable at work, and you don't have to perform and you don't have to work that day, but I'm going to do the show,' because I just didn't want to let all the fans down." the singer added.

Gaga acknowledged that she felt it was unfair to her fans who came to watch her because they were being exposed to the life-threatening disease. "During all my quick changes, I kept going. 'I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,'" she mentioned.

Singer's statement sparks outrage

Lady Gaga's statement sparked a vicious backlash on social media as fans labelled the star ‘disgusting’ and ‘selfish’ over her wild confession.

“Wow. To say this was wildly irresponsible is an understatement,” ranted one fan on Reddit, while another called it a “disgusting” account.

A third fan hit out: “This is disgustingly ableist. It has really changed my opinion of her, and contributes to the ongoing minimisation of Covid and neglect of those who suffered.”

“As someone who has serious health issues and could die from a simple flu gone wrong not to mention covid I feel rage and the urge for violence when I hear stories like that,” said another enraged netizen.

Gaga on her upcoming album

At the same event, 'the Bloody Mary' hitmaker also teased her next album and spoke about working with Beyonce again. The iconic pop duo had previously collaborated on 'Telephone' in 2010.
“I have been working on my new music all the time and I truly live and breathe it,” the GRAMMY and ACADEMY Award-winning diva told Entertainment Tonight. “I just can’t wait to give it to the fans.”

Gaga's most recent solo release was Chromatica in 2020, followed by Love for Sale, a duet album with the late Tony Bennett, in 2021.
