Johnny Depp will not be called back to witness stand by Heard lawyers, says report

As the much-talked-about Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp trial enters its final week, there has been a twist in the case. According to a Reuters report, the lawyers of the 'Aquaman' actor have decided not to call Depp to the witness stand. He may testify again ahead of the closing arguments if summoned by his lawyers.

Amber Heard has been sued by her former husband for an op-ed she wrote for Washington Post in 2018, in which she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse.

She is countersuing the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor for $100 million claiming that her career has been damaged due to statements made by his lawyer.

As per various news reports, British model Kate Moss, who dated Depp from 1994 to 1997, will be among the witnesses to take the stand in the ongoing defamation trial. She is expected to testify on Wednesday.

Post her breakup with Depp, Moss in an interview with Vanity Fair, described her relationship with the actor as a 'nightmare.' 'Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!' she was quoted as saying.
Heard had mentioned Moss during her testimony earlier this month.

On Monday, Dr Spiegel, a psychiatrist, gave their testimony in the trial and said, 'Mr. Depp has behaviors that are consistent with both someone who has a substance use disorder, as well as consistent behaviors of someone who is a perpetrator of intimate partner violence.'

However, during their cross-examination, the actor's lawyers attempted to discredit Dr Spiegel by questioning him if he could accurately assess Depp without ever having spoken to him.

The lawyers countered his testimony in which he mentioned Depp could have a cognitive deficit. To which Dr Spiegel responded,' I said maybe I could be wrong. Maybe Hollywood stars get lines fed to them through earpieces all the time. And I don't know, That could be said. It sounded to me to be unusual, if you're doing a movie and you don't know the lines. But as you said, I'm just judging, you know, what I do with lectures and that would never happen.'
