Johnny Depp's downfall as explained by his former agent

Tracey Jacobs, Johnny Depp's former agent and business manager, has shared a detailed account of the actor's financial crisis, struggle with drugs and punctuality issues on movie sets. Jacobs, who testified on Day 19 of Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp trial, said that during the final years of working with the actor, he was "showing up late to set consistently on virtually every movie."

Recounting Depp's 'unprofessional' behaviour as his consumption of drugs and alcohol increased, she said: 'Well, initially, crews loved him because he was always so great with the crew. But crews don't love sitting around for hours and hours and hours waiting for the star of the movie to show up. And it also got around town. I mean, people talk, it's a small community and it made people reluctant to use him.'

A previously recorded deposition was played in the court as well, in which she said, 'I was very honest with him and said, 'You've got to stop doing this – this is hurting you.'
Jacobs worked as the '21 Jump Street' actor's agent for over 30 years. She was fired by Depp in 2016.

Depp's former business manager Joel Mandel also testified in a pre-recorded deposition in which he mentioned that he was deeply concerned about the actor's finances in 2015. He stated that things began to change around 2010. 'It became clear over time that there were issues with alcohol and drugs,' he said.

'And that translated into more erratic behavior, more stressful behavior, more times when it was difficult to engage in the kinds of conversations I needed to do my job,' he further added.

Mandel revealed that Depp used to spend thousands of dollars on drugs each month.
'The spending levels had grown very, very, very large and required that level of incredibly high income to be maintained. And when it dropped off, the disconnect became untenable,' he said.

He too was fired by Depp in 2016.

The actor's former girlfriend Ellen Barkin also testified in the trial and described Depp as 'jealous and controlling.'

'Where are you going? Who are you going with? What? What did you do last night?' I had a scratch on my back once. That got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from me having sex with a person who wasn't,' she said.

Barkin also recalled an incident in which the "Pirates of the Caribbean' actor threw a wine bottle across the hotel room. She claimed the incident took place while they were shooting for the film 'Fear and Loathing' in Las Vegas, US.

Johnny Depp has filed $50 million defamation trial against Amber Heard over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post, in which she claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor.
