Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: Kate Moss testifies in support of former boyfriend

The much-talked-about Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial continues to grab everyone’s attention across the world. On Wednesday, British model Kate Moss, who dated Depp from 1994 till 1998, took to the witness stand in the defamation case.

Her testimony via video lasted for three minutes, in which she refuted reports that stated Depp had pushed her down a staircase.

Describing what actually transpired during their holiday at GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, Moss said, ‘We were leaving the room, and Johnny left the room before I did, and there had been a rainstorm. As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back.’

‘I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention,” she said.
“He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,” Moss further added.

Heard’s lawyers refused to cross-examine Moss. The ‘Aquaman’ actor mentioned Moss in her testimony earlier this month. Depp’s legal team celebrated when Heard mentioned her name and decided to summon Moss for clarification.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor also took to the witness stand to refute statements made by witnesses including his former wife. He alleged that Heard hit him on several occasions and her charges of violence are ‘heinous.’

"I have never in my life committed sexual battery, physical abuse. All these outlandish, outrageous stories of me committing these things and living with it for six years and waiting to be able to bring the truth out," Depp said.

He also spoke about Heard’s statement in which she mentioned that the actor took about 8-10 MDMA pills at the time of the 2015 Australia incident. Depp said he would be dead if he consumed so many pills.

‘I think one would die. Probably rather quickly,’ Depp testified.
On being questioned about how he felt while listening to Heard’s accusations against him, the actor said, ‘It’s insane to hear heinous accusations of violence, sexual violence, that she’s attributed to me and accused me of. I don’t think anyone enjoys having to split themselves open and tell the truth, but there are times when one simply has to, because it’s gotten out of control.’
He further added that accusations were ‘ridiculous, humiliating, ludicrous, painful, savage and unimaginably brutal, cruel and all false. All false.’

Depp filed a $50 million defamation case against Amber Heard for her 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she claimed to be victim of domestic abuse.
Heard is countersuing Depp for $100 million claiming that statements made by his lawyer are damaging her career.
