Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp 'tried to kill' her during cross-examination

Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp 'tried to kill' her during cross-examination

On the 17th day of Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp trial, the 'Aquaman' actor claimed that her then husband 'tried to kill' her. 'This is a man who tried to kill me. Of course. It's scary. He's also my husband,' she said, while being cross-questioned by Depp's lawyer on the alleged assault she faced in Australia in 2015. Heard has claimed that the actor sexually assaulted her with a liquor bottle, pushing it against her pubic bone.

However, Depp's lawyer has countered her allegation, saying that she had attacked Mr. Depp with a bottle due to which he lost the tip of his finger. Heard responded saying that she didn't assault Johnny ever.

Heard was also grilled on why she gifted a knife to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor in 2012 amid the cycles of alleged assaults she was facing. She responded that she had given him the knife as a birthday present early in their relationship. 'I wasn't worried he was going to stab me with it when I gave it to him. That's for certain,' she said.

The lawyer also countered her testimony in which she had alleged that she was injured on her forearms, feet and jaw during the assault and asked why there were no medical records reflecting treatment for any of those injuries. Heard revealed that she did not seek treatment for the bruises she received from Depp.

Heard's two-day cross-examination in Johnny Depp's $50 million defamation lawsuit ended on Tuesday (May 17th). She has been sued over a 2018 op-ed in Washington Post, in which she depicted herself to be a 'public figure representing domestic abuse.' Depp charged her even though his name wasn't mentioned in her article.

The stars met on the sets of 'The Rum Diary' in 2009 and started dating a year later. They got married in 2015. A year later, Heard filed for divorce, accusing Depp of physical assault while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Their divorce was finalized in 2017.
