Grammy Awards nominations 2022 list: Bonanza for Jon Batiste, Doja Cat bags 8 nods

Fans won’t have to wait much longer for 'Music’s Biggest Night', The Grammys as it is slated to take place on April 3 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The nominations for the 2022 Grammys were announced in November, last year.

Surprisingly, US singer Jon Batiste, is this year’s most nominated artist. The Stephen Colbert‘s Late Show bandleader scored 11 nods for his 2021 LP, 'We Are' along with record of the year with 'Freedom', a feel-good ode to the city of New Orleans. His nominations span several genres including R and B, jazz, American roots music, classical and music video-film. Batiste picked up a bid in the best score soundtrack for visual media category for his work on Pixar's 'Soul', which won him an Oscar for best score earlier this year.

Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. each came away with the second-most nominations with eight nods, followed by Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo with seven nods.

Along with Batiste's surprise domination, another shocking revelation was The Weeknd nabbing three nominations after the pop star claimed he would not allow his label to submit his music.

Last year, The Weeknd angrily slammed the Grammys, calling them 'corrupt' after he received zero nominations despite 2020's biggest single, 'Blinding Lights'.

Jay-Z, who is nominated for three Grammys, has the most nominations of all time with 83. The 23-time Grammy-winning rapper moved past Quincy Jones, who has been nominated 80 times.

K-pop group BTS have done it once again! They have been nominated for a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammy Awards 2022 for their summer smash hit 'Butter'.
