Garth Brooks responds to sexual assault lawsuit, denies allegations: ‘I’ve faced relentless harassment…’

Country music superstar Garth Brooks issued a statement in response to a lawsuit filed against him. The 62-year-old music icon is accused of rape and battery by a former hair and makeup artist, referred to as ‘Jane Roe,’ with claims dating back to 2019.

In his statement, Garth asserts that the allegations are entirely false, suggesting they are an attempt to extort ‘millions of dollars’ from him.

‘For the past two months, I’ve faced relentless harassment filled with threats, lies, and distressing scenarios about my future if I don’t pay up,’ Garth expressed in a statement to Deadline, shared by his team.
‘It feels like having a loaded gun pointed at my head,’ he added.
Before the new lawsuit, Garth Brooks reportedly filed his own anonymous lawsuit aimed at blocking the allegations.

‘Hush money, regardless of the amount, is still hush money. To me, that suggests I’m admitting to actions I’m incapable of—horrific deeds no one should ever inflict upon another,’ he stated.
‘We filed a suit against this individual nearly a month ago to confront extortion and protect my character. We opted for anonymity to safeguard families on both sides,’ he added.

‘I want to perform tonight. I want to continue doing good in the world. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now in doubt. I have faith in the system, I fear no truth, and I am not the person they’re trying to portray me as,’ he concluded.

In response, Jane Roe's attorneys told CNN that Garth is attempting to silence her with his lawsuit.

‘We believe that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,’ they asserted.

‘We commend our client’s bravery in pursuing her complaint against Garth Brooks. This complaint illustrates that sexual predators can be found not only in corporate America and Hollywood but also in the world of country music,’ they added.
