Britney Spears and her father settle conservatorship dispute with an undisclosed sum, details here

Britney Spears and her father, Jamie Spears, have settled their dispute over his legal fees and management of the singer's finances during her conservatorship. According to a report by People, Britney and Jamie reached a resolution in the Los Angeles Superior Court on April 25; however, the terms of the settlement have not been made public. Both parties also confirmed to People that the estranged father-daughter duo settled for an undisclosed sum.

Britney's attorney's statement:

"Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with the court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter... Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored," Britney's attorney, Mathew S Rosengart, said in a statement.

Statement by Jamie's attorney:

Jamie’s attorney, Alex Weingarten, said that the two parties 'reached a settlement agreement resolving all outstanding disputes'. He told People, “I cannot comment on any specifics as the settlement is confidential. Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much and everything he has ever done has been to protect and support her... It is unfortunate that some irresponsible people in Britney’s life chose to drag this on for as long as it has.”

Britney Spears’s 13-year-long conservatorship, which began in 2008 after a series of public breakdowns, was terminated in 2021. During this period, her father served as one of her conservators. Following the termination, he had been seeking court approval for more than $2 million in fees to multiple law firms he had hired in that capacity. He had also sought payment of his current lawyer’s ongoing legal bill. The latest resolution prevents both parties from a gruelling trial in the court.
