Priyanka Chopra recalls her initial struggles in Hollywood: 'I was very lonely, and it was very scary'

When Priyanka Chopra began her Hollywood journey, she was already a superstar in India. However, her popularity in her home country didn't help her much in establishing her footing in the West. Despite a flourishing acting career in India, the actor began from zero in a new place. Recently, Priyanka chronicled her initial struggles in Hollywood and how she battled her dark days.

In a recent podcast with Cavanaugh James' Read the Room, Priyanka Chopra recalled her rookie days in Hollywood. She said, "It was the industry that I didn't know, the people that I didn't know, and I didn't have friends who would call at 2 in the morning. That's very important. I was very lonely, and it was very scary. I was in New York City, which, anyway, is a daunting city. It was a dark period of my life."

Priyanka's new beginnings

Priyanka built her Hollywood career from scratch. Despite her Miss World title and six magazine covers in her home country, the actor had to start afresh, with producers refusing even a meeting. Known for her go-getter outlook, Priyanka remained resilient, refusing to let difficult times "rip her apart."

She explained, "I am a very ambitious woman. I run extremely quickly. I want everything to be resolved. I am solution-oriented. However, there are occasions when no remedies exist, and you must accept the situation. That's the lesson that enabled me to ride the wave rather than fight it."

Priyanka Chopra on the film front

On the film front, Priyanka is shooting for 'Heads of State'. The action comedy also stars Idris Elba, John Cena, and Jack Quaid, among others, in important roles. The actor also announced 'The Bluff' last month. She also has 'Jee Le Zaraa' in the pipeline.
