'Batman: The Animated Series' voice Kevin Conroy dies at 66

Kevin Conroy, who was best known for voicing Batman on Warner Bros. 'Batman: The Animated Series', has died at the age of 66. The actor and voice over artiste reportedly fought a brief battle with cancer. Kevin’s 'Batman: The Animated Series' co-star Diane Pershing first broke the news of his death, and later it was confirmed by Warner Bros Animation.

A statement released by Warner Bros, Mark Hamil, the voice of Joker opposite Kevin’s Batman in many projects said, ‘Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him —his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.’

The writer of ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ took to Twitter and posted a picture of Batman from the show to pay tribute to the star. Many other actors have also reacted to Kevin’s demise.

Kevin started his career as a live action actor in the 80s. He made his soap opera debut with ‘Another World’ and then made his way to theatre. He first voiced the role of Batman aka Bruce Wayne in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ in 1992. The credit for the trend of a heavier voice for Batman as opposed to his alter ego Bruce Wayne is in the name of Kevin.

Kevin has been a prominent LGBTQ activist. He is survived by his wife Vaughn C. Williams.
