Adele pauses her show in Las Vegas to pay tribute to Matthew Perry: 'One of the best comedians'

Hours after the news of his death surfaced, singer Adele paid tribute to the legend with a heart-warming remark during her recent Las Vegas concert. In a video posted over X, the singer quips, ‘I'll remember the character for the rest of my life,’ referring to Perry's most loved role as Chandler Bing in the hit 1990s television series ‘Friends’.

She also talked to the crowd about his struggle with alcohol addiction. She said his openness about his addiction and sobriety was nothing less than bravery. Furthermore, she also exclaimed that although she never met him in person, she would always remember him as one of the best comedians.

She added, ‘Some of my favourite memories of when I was younger with my friends is one of them doing the best Chandler impression.’

Praising Matthew Perry, she recalled how his character became a staple in her childhood, with one of her friends doing the best Chandler impression.

‘And he would do it all the time to make us laugh. And if any of us were having a bad day or feeling low, he would just pretend to be Chandler,’ Adele said.

‘And yeah, I just wanna say how much I love what he did for all of us. Especially what he did for me. One of the best comedic characters of all time. And hopefully, now, he can rest in peace,’ the singer concluded.

The actor was found dead at his Los Angeles apartment in the hot tub. The reason for the 54-year-old's death is said to be drowning. Since the news of his death surfaced, many of his fans and stars have reacted via social media and expressed gratitude towards him.

The ‘Friends’ actor was renowned for his jolly and happening nature.

According to a TMZ report, the statements of law enforcement sources say that many prescribed medications and drugs, including anti-depression and anti-anxiety, were found at the actor’s residence. However, there's no evidence of any illegal drugs.
