Would give my right arm to do a film with Salman again: Kabir Khan

Director Kabir Khan says that working with Salman Khan helped him solidify his standing as a filmmaker in the industry, and that he would love to collaborate with him on another project.

Salman and legendary screenwriter KV Vijayendra Prasad, who wrote the plot for the 2015 original, announced the sequel to their film 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' few days ago.

Salman played a guy who starts on a trip to return a mute six-year-old Pakistani girl to her hometown in the neighbouring nation after being separated from her parents in India.

When asked if he will return to direct the sequel to 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan,' Kabir stated it is still up in the air.

Kabir told PTI that 'Ultimately, it's about sitting on a script. It's about Salman and I sort of equally getting excited about it and seeing if we can do that. I would give my right arm to do a film with Salman again. My association with him has been really good for me. I've learnt a lot. I can very honestly say that my position in the film industry today would not be what it is if it wasn't for my collaboration with Salman. But specifically about 'Bajrangi', we have not got down to that level.'

The filmmaker initially worked with Salman on the spy action movie 'Ek Tha Tiger' in 2012, which launched a popular franchise under the Yash Raj Films banner. For 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Tubelight,' they reunited in 2017.

While the first two films were warmly appreciated by the public, the third film earned only a lukewarm response from even Khan's fans. All three, though, went on to become box office hits.

'83,' the sports drama based on India's historic triumph in the 1983 Men's Cricket World Cup under Kapil Dev's captaincy, is the director's most recent release.

The film, which stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, was released in theatres on Friday and has received mainly positive reviews from both audiences and reviewers.
