Twinkle Khanna calls Karan Johar the 'Sima Taparia of movie business'

Filmmaker Karan Johar has earned a new title due to his matchmaking skills. Twinkle Khanna, during her conversation with him for Tweak India, compared him to the popular matchmaker Sima Taparia of the reality show 'Indian Matchmaking' as he claimed credit for the success behind many marriages in Bollywood.

'You are the Sima aunty of the movie business. You keep doing this matchmaking and your father did the same thing. When I was speaking to Waheeda Rahman, she mentioned that your father fixed up her marriage, it’s some genetic pre-disposition to get people together,’ Twinkle told Karan.

He agreed and said that he takes on the responsibility and it just makes him very happy to do it.

‘It’s like one of the agendas in my life. Vidya (Balan) called me the other day. It was her 12th anniversary, and I had introduced her to Siddharth Roy Kapoor. I was so touched by this call, more than any feedback for a film,’ KJo recalled.

When Twinkle asked him about recent matches, KJo said that he wasn’t sure if they would want him to go public about it.

‘I don’t think they would like me to go public with that information. Contrary to public opinion, there’s a lot that I keep secret to myself,’ he said.

Karan Johar was also mocked for constantly asking questions about people’s sex life on his chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’. Twinkle imitated the filmmaker as well and jokingly asked, ‘Who would you rather sleep with, Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan?’

KJo, who was clearly taken aback, said, ‘I’ve never asked that, how can I ask that?’ He then tried to change the situation and asked Twinkle the same question, to which she said that she won’t be answering that and added that it’s the reason why she doesn’t come on his show.

Karan’s ‘Koffee couch of manifestation’ has brought together celebrities like Vicky Kaushal-Katrina Kaif. Katrina had talked about Vicky during an episode in 2018, which had left the ‘Masaan’ actor speechless and he was happy that she was actually aware of his existence. The couple married in 2021.

Alia Bhatt had also expressed her fondness for Ranbir Kapoor in the earlier seasons, and married him in 2022.
