‘Laal Singh Chadha’, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, tanked at the box office after facing massive backlash on social media. #BoycottLaalSinghChadha trended on Twitter for several days over Aamir’s old remark in which he talked about the growing intolerance in the country. However, the film was appreciated by the audience when it started streaming on OTT platform Netflix.

Actor Manav Vij, who played the role of a Pakistani soldier in the film, said people apologised to him on Twitter for not watching ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in the theatres. But instead of an apology, Vij suggested that people should send money to Aamir Khan’s production house to compensate for the loss that happened due to a no-show in the theaters.

The Advait Chandan directorial is an official Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ 1994 film ‘Forrest Gump’. It could only do a business of Rs 58 crore.

At a recent Delhi event, Aamir announced that he is taking a break from acting for some time.
‘I feel I have been working for 35 years and I have single-mindedly been focused on my work. I feel that it’s not fair to people who are close to me. This is the time I feel I have to take some time off to be with them, and actually experience life in a different way. I am looking forward to the next year, year-and-a-half in which I am not working as an actor,’ ANI quoted him as saying.
