Taapsee Pannu's 'Shabaash Mithu' trends at number 1 on Netflix; here's what the actor has to say

Taapsee Pannu is glad that her sports biopic ‘Shabaash Mithu’ is trending on Netflix. The film released in theatres last month but did not perform well at the box office. However, the film managed to find its audience on the OTT platform where it recently released. The movie, which is based on the life of cricketer Mithali Raj, has surpassed the viewership of Alia Bhatt’s 'Darlings' on Netflix India and is trending at number 1.

Sharing a thank you note on Instagram, Taapsee, wrote, ‘Thank you everyone, theatre mein na sahi, OTT pe toh pyaar mila. Aur kaafi bumper opening lagi hai yahan toh (At least the movie received love on OTT, if not in the theatres. And it’s a bumper opening here.)’

The multitalented actor also expressed gratitude on Twitter stating how hard work never goes unnoticed. 'Thank you everyone ! My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since #ShabaashMithu has released on OTT platform. I am not sure how I feel exactly coz I would’ve liked all of you watch it in theatres but nevertheless I am glad you all saw our little gem. hard work never goes unnoticed,' she wrote.

The movie, directed by Srijit Mukherji, was released on 15th July, 2022.

Taapsee had earlier also shared how excited and happy she was with the digital release of the film. The actor believed that the movie will ‘inspire other young girls and women to follow their dreams and passion in sports.’
