Swara Bhasker and Prakash Raj support Nadav Lapid’s remark on ‘The Kashmir Files’

IFFI jury head and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid’s remark on ‘The Kashmir Files’ has sparked a controversy with many slamming him for calling the movie a ‘vulgar propaganda’. However, actor Swara Bhaskar and Prakash Raj have lent their voice in support of Nadav.

Swara took to Twitter and shared a link of a news article headlined ‘Kashmir Files’ a ‘vulgar propaganda movie’, unfit for event like IFFI: Jury chairman Nadav Lapid', and wrote that 'Apparently it’s pretty clear to the world …'.

Actor Prakash Raj also shared an article headlined ‘International Film Festival of India jury head calls 'The Kashmir Files' ‘vulgar, propaganda’ and wrote 'SHAME is Official now…#justasking'.

At the closing ceremony of the film festival in Goa on Monday, Nadav said ‘I would like to thank the head of the festival and the director of the programming for the cinematic richness of the programme, for its diversity, for its complexity. It was intense. We saw seven films in the debutant competition, and 15 films in the international competition, the front window of the festival. 14 out of them had cinematic qualities, defaults and evoked vivid discussions.’

‘All of us were disturbed and shocked by the 15th film, The Kashmir Files. That felt like a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival. I feel totally comfortable to openly share these feelings here with you on this stage. In the spirit of this festival, can surely also accept a critical discussion, which is essential for art and life’, he added.

'The Kashmir Files' also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi among others in pivotal roles.
