Soni Razdan reveals Alia Bhatt’s plan to join drama school before acting debut, ‘SOTY came from nowhere’

Actor Alia Bhatt completed a decade in Bollywood on Wednesday. The actor made her acting debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. On her special day, veteran actor-Alia’s mom Soni Razdan took to Instagram and recalled how Alia bagged her first film. She also revealed that Alia had planned to join a drama school.

‘Student of the Year came from Out of nowhere for our baby @aliaabhatt and when we least expected it! At the time Alia was busy working on her International Baccalaureate- a diploma I’m so glad she could do-and acting in a movie was a distant dream … one which we were not at all prepared for … just yet, she wrote. She further added, ‘the plan was for Alia to go to a drama school and then somehow try to get a role in something! Thank you @karanjoharfor auditioning her, and giving her a chance to work on herself before finally casting our girl. So happy she got the opportunity to do this film, and have you as her mentor, guide, best friend and yes - a second father.’

Soni Razdan also shared a video of the ‘Student Of The Year’ journey. Filmmaker Karan Johar took to the comment section and wrote, ‘Soni!!!! So much love to Bhatsaab and you for trusting me.’

Alia Bhatt had earlier shared a picture with her Instagram fans with a caption that read, ‘10 years today…and I am so so grateful .. EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!.. I promise to be better - dream deeper - work harder !!!!! thank you for the magic love love and only love.’

Celebrities such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and others congratulated her on completing 10 years in the industry.

On the work front, Alia was last seen in ‘Brahmastra’, with husband-actor Ranbir Kapoor. She will next feature in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. She will also be seen in Netlfix’s ‘Heart Of Stone’, along with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.
