‘Singham 3’: Deepika Padukone to play lady cop, Rohit Shetty confirms

Actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's on-screen camaraderie is all set to come alive as their latest song ‘Current Laga’, from the upcoming film ‘Cirkus’ is out. During the song launch event, director Rohit Shetty unveiled that Deepika Padukone will play the role of a cop in ‘Singham 3’.

While interacting with the media at the launch event, Rohit said ‘Har baar ek hi sawaal pucha jaata hai ke lady singham kab aayegi. Toh 'Singham Again' mein lady Singham aayegi. She's my lady cop from the cop universe. So, hum agle saal hi saath mein kaam kar rahe hai (Everytime I'm asked why don't I make a film with a female cop so here's my lady Singham. Deepika is the lady cop of my universe, in 'Singham Again' and we're working together next year itself).’

Deepika got emotional at the announcement and hugged Rohit. Ranveer Singh who was happy at the announcement said, ‘You heard it first here!’

Ranveer also said that the best performance by Deepika for him is Meenaamma in Rohit Shetty's ‘Chennai Express’. He added that this is a special film and he can’t wait for Deepika and Rohit to collaborate again.

Earlier, speaking with PTI, Rohit said that the film will continue from where ‘Sooryavanshi' left. He also added that it’s a big action film, so it’ll take him seven months to complete.

Rohit Shetty's cop universe has films such as ‘Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’, ‘Simmba’, and ‘Sooryavanshi’. The movie is expected to be released in mid-2023.
