Randeep Hooda reveals he locked himself up in jail; this is what the actor said

All set to make his directorial debut, Randeep Hooda is preparing for the release of his next film ‘Swantantrya Veer Savarkar’. Along with a series of pictures, the actor shared his experience of shooting the film, which will be released on March 22. Hooda revealed that he had locked himself up for 20 minutes to feel what Savarkar must have gone through.

'Locked myself inside the cell’

Remembering Savarkar on his death anniversary, the ‘Highway’ actor shared pictures of himself inside a cell with folded hands in front of Savarkar’s portrait. In another picture, he is seen sitting on the floor while looking above. The last slide of his post featured the poster of his upcoming film on Savarkar.

The actor shared his experience and wrote, “ Today is the punyatithi of one of the greatest sons of Bharat Mata. Leader, Fearless Freedom Fighter, Writer, Philosopher & Visionary #SawatantryaVeerSavarkar. A man whose towering intellect and fierce courage scared the British so much that they locked him in this 7 by 11 foot jail in Kalapani for two life times (50 years). During the recce on his biopic I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement.”

Hooda’s commitment towards his role

Randeep Hooda is known for his dedication towards his roles. Be it ‘Sarabjit’ or ‘Swantratrya Veer Savarkar’, the actor does not hesitate to go beyond his limits for his roles. The actor reportedly used to consume only dates and a glass of milk to lose weight for four months for his role as Savarkar. During the shooting of ‘Sarabjit’, Hooda had lost more than 20 kg in less than a month. He reportedly starved himself to look like Sarabjit.
