The Russo Brothers are expanding their cinematic universe with the highly anticipated series, Citadel, which will soon make its debut on streaming platforms.

While the series stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, an Indian spinoff titled Citadel: Honey Bunny, featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

In a recent interview with Indian Express, directors Raj & DK shared insights on how they were brought into the Citadel journey.

Raj & DK revealed that the Russo Brothers had previously observed their work before reaching out to them. Raj said, 'I think they had watched 'The Family Man' before its release and had also seen 'Stree'.

This initial exposure paved way for Raj & DK to join the project, where they aimed to maintain their unique storytelling style.

Raj added, 'We wanted to make the series less tech-savvy, avoiding gadgets, holograms, and the futuristic tech that Citadel is known for," he explained. Instead, the filmmakers opted for a raw and realistic approach. We took out all of that and thought let them use their guns, fists, and one pager is enough.'

Citadel cast

The cast of Citadel: Honey Bunny includes Kay Kay Menon, Emma Canning, Sikandar Kher, and Saqib Saleem, alongside the leads Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Kashvi Majmundar plays a young version of Nadia, the character portrayed by Priyanka Chopra in the original Citadel.

Fans can look forward to the series premiering on Prime Video on November 7, marking an exciting addition to the Citadel universe.
