R Madhavan named new president of FTII; Union Minister Anurag Thakur extends best wishes

Actor R Madhavan, who recently won the National Filn Award for his directorial debut 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, has been named the president of Film and Television Institute of India.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur shared the news on social media and congratulated the actor. He said that he was sure that Madhavan's vast experience and strong ethics will enrich the Institute.
He wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council. I’m sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you.”

R Madhavan thanked him for the honour and said he would do his very best to live upto the expectations.

Madhavan wrote, "Thank you so very much for the honor and kind wishes @ianuragthakur Ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations (sic)."

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was the last president of FTII. Actor Anupam Kher has also served as the president for one year.

Madhavan is an actor, writer, director, and producer.
Meanwhile, R Madhavan is all set to star in the upcoming movie 'Test,' directed by Sashikanth. This film is said to revolve around the world of cricket, with Madhavan in the lead role.
