Pooja Bhatt talks about ‘lowest phase’ in her life: ‘You go and hide behind alcohol’

Actor-director Pooja Bhatt opened up about her divorce on the Salman Khan-hosted show ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ and called it the ‘lowest time in her life’.

On the show, Salman quizzed contestants on their lowest moments and many spoke about struggling in their careers, but no one spoke about their personal life.

Later, Pooja Bhatt confided in her co-housemate Jiya Shankar and shared how getting a divorce was ‘totally her decision’.

She shared, ‘I said that I wanted to live my life with comfort or keep my 10 to 11 years old relationship. My husband was not a bad person. But then I thought I had lost myself and it was not for somebody else or the betterment of life. I wanted myself back’.

Pooja also addressed how it wasn’t easy to let go of an 11-year relationship. She said that it was sudden and felt like death.

‘People ask if you are ok and people prefer you say so. And later you go and hide behind alcohol because the bottle delivers. Then I thought that I wanted to set myself free and find myself but I drilled myself more into a bad zone. So that phase in my life was the lowest phase of my life,’ she said.

Pooja said, ‘That’s very important but when I look back to that phase I never push myself away from it. I look straight in the eye and said yes you have become this otherwise what’s the difference between a bottle and a person. So now the universe said that I am ready.’

Earlier, Pooja had shared how her father’s message about who will look after her after he’s gone, made her stop drinking.
