‘Pippa’ trailer: Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur starrer is a retelling of Battle Of Garibpur | Watch

‘Pippa’, starring Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur, is all set to be released directly on Prime Video. The film, adapted from Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s book ‘The Burning Chaffees’, features Ishaan as Captain Mehta of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who played a significant role on India’s eastern front during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, leading to the creation of Bangladesh.

The forthcoming film is a thrilling narrative of a landmark moment in history - the Battle of Garibpur, during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Its title refers to PT-76 (Palavushi Tanka) amphibious tank, commonly known as Pippa, akin to an empty tin of ghee that smoothly floats on water.

The action thriller, written by Ravinder Randhawa, Tanmay Mohan, and Menon, narrates a story of patriotism and heroism. It traces the coming of age of Captain Balram Mehta, who along with the Indian Armed Forces exemplified valour and courage, in a war for the liberation of another country, and redefined what it means to be a hero.

The movie is directed by Raja Krishna and its soul-stirring music is by maestro A.R. Rahman.

‘Pippa’, produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films, is scheduled to be released on November 10.
