Kangana Ranaut refutes reports that Zee Studios is seeking a refund for 'Thalaivii': 'fake propaganda'

Filmmaker-actor Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram to refute the reports that claimed Zee Studios is demanding 'Thalaivii' makers to refund an amount of Rs 6 crore after the film’s box office failure. Sharing a screengrab of a news article, the 'Queen' actor called it fake propaganda by film mafia.

She wrote, 'All this is fake propaganda by film mafia, I have sold Emergency to @zeestudiofficial and Thalaivii recovered all it cost before its release, it has been two years since its release.'

According to Times of India, Zee Studios had paid an advance amount of Rs 6 crore, which has not been returned by the makers. The company has been demanding a refund through emails and phone calls over the last two years. Now, with no other course of action, Zee Studios is considering taking things to court.

‘Thalaivii’ followed the life of Jayalalithaa from being an actor to turning into one of Tamil Nadu’s strong political figures. The film was made on a lavish budget, but according to Bollywood Hungama, it didn’t collect more than Rs 1.46 crore at the domestic box office.
