IFFI 2023: Madhuri Dixit honoured with Special Recognition for contribution to Bharatiya Cinema Award

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India, which showcases the grandeur of Cinema, commenced in Goa on November 20.

At the event, Madhuri was honoured with Special Recognition for her contribution to Bharatiya Cinema Award.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur took to X to share the news and called it a celebration of an extraordinary journey, a tribute to an everlasting legacy.

He wrote, ‘An icon across the ages, @MadhuriDixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades. From the effervescent Nisha to the captivating Chandramukhi, the majestic Begum Para to the indomitable Rajjo, her versatility knows no bounds.’

‘Today, we are filled with admiration as we present the ‘Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema’ Award to the talented, charismatic actress who has redefined excellence in cinema, at the 54th International Film Festival of India. A celebration of an extraordinary journey, a tribute to an everlasting legacy,’ he added.

At the ceremony, Madhuri said, ‘Cinema has given me so much, it’s time to give something back in return. What better way to do so than through song and dance which is integral to not just Indian cinema, but Indian culture as well.’

Madhuri Dixit also performed a medley of her popular songs.

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India promises to be a mix of glamour and artistry.

It features stars like Shriya Saran, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Pankaj Tripathi, as well as musical maestros Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal and Sukhwinder Singh.

Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna hosted the ceremony at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, marking the beginning of the film gala in Goa from November 20 to 28.

Madhuri Dixit’s work front

Madhuri Dixit was last seen in the 2022 film ‘Maja Ma’. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the film also stars Gajraj Rao, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Srishti Shrivastava, and Simone Singh.

The film premiered on October 6, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.
