‘I have got my idol at home’; Sunny Deol praises father-actor Dharmendra Deol

Actor Sunny Deol is currently awaiting the release of his forthcoming film R.Balki’s directorial ‘Chup: Revenge of the artist’, co-starring Pooja Bhatt and Dulquer Salman, which is all set to release in theatres on Sept 23.

Recently, the actor in a candid chat with Pinkvilla praised his father-actor Dharmendra's acting talent and said he found his idol at home only.
He said, ‘I have got my idol at home. He is the only actor to succeed in all genres of cinema and he has never shied away from exploring different roles. Be it ‘Satyakam’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Pratigya’, ‘Phool Aur Phattar’ or ‘Anupama’ – he has done it all. I wish I was an active actor in his era.’

Talking about how films were different when Dharmendra was at the peak of his career. He added, ‘My dad used to shoot for many films in a day - from one set to the other. Imagine, how good the writer and directors were, that the actor could stick to their characters. They had no written scripts, it was just based on narrations. We have bound scripts in today’s time, but they are not close to what was done back in the day. I always keep thinking… I wish I was in that era.’

On the work front, apart from ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’, Sunny Deol will reportedly feature in ‘Aapne 2’ co-starring his brother-actor Bobby Deol, son Karan Deol, and Dharmendra. As per reports, the shooting of the film will start next year.
