Here’s why Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah won’t be attending Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant’s wedding

Anurag Kashyap's daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, revealed she declined invitations to events at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding, citing reasons of ‘self-respect.’ In Instagram messages, the 23-year-old likened the wedding to a ‘circus’ and alleged that the Ambani family had invited certain guests for PR purposes.

Anant Ambani, the younger son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, is set to marry Radhika Merchant, daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant, on July 12 in Mumbai. Preceding the wedding, the Ambani family has hosted two extensive pre-wedding events. The first was a three-day celebration in Jamnagar, attended by notable figures such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, followed by a luxury cruise across the Mediterranean. Leading up to the wedding, the family hosted several Mumbai parties last week, including a garba night, haldi ceremony, and a star-studded sangeet with performances by Bollywood celebrities.

While Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding guest list includes a wide array of film industry figures, influencers, friends, family, and industrialists, Aaliyah Kashyap has stated she declined invitations to the events she was asked to attend.

‘The Ambani wedding has turned into a circus at this point,’ the 23-year-old commented.

‘I received invitations to some events supposedly for PR (???? don't ask me why), but I declined because I believe I have enough self-respect not to commodify myself for someone's WEDDING,’ she added.

In other messages, Aaliyah expressed her fascination with the lives of ‘wealthy individuals’ and admitted to following everything related to the wedding on social media.

She also highlighted how the Ambani family had reserved parts of Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex for the wedding.

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant will tie the knot on July 12 in Mumbai. The couple will host a reception on July 14.
