‘Taarak Mehta Ka Oooltah Chashmah's Gurucharan Singh on his disappearance: ‘Had no plans to return…’

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ actor Gurucharan Singh broke his silence regarding his disappearance. In a new interview with The Times of India, he clarified that it was not a 'publicity stunt' and that he had gone on a 'spiritual journey.'

Singh went missing on April 22 and returned home after 25 days. He came back to Mumbai earlier this month for the first time since his disappearance.

Gurucharan said, ‘I have always been spiritual because of my parents and at this point in life when I was feeling low, I turned towards God. I went on a spiritual journey and had no plans of coming back. But God gave me a sign and that made me return home. Many people think I planned my disappearance for publicity, but that’s not true. If I wanted publicity, I could have given interviews to talk about the pending dues for my work in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I could have used social media to do that, but I didn’t. Even after coming back home, I didn’t give any interviews, but now I am speaking up because I want to clarify certain things that people are saying about me.’

Gurucharan also expressed his desire for support from the industry by offering him work. ‘I am back and eager to take on many projects. I aim to repay all my loans and debts gradually through my work, and I am prepared to work diligently. I've realized that I can continue my spiritual journey while fulfilling my other life responsibilities,’ he said.

The actor disappeared in April after leaving his home in Delhi to catch a flight to Mumbai. He was scheduled to board a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on the evening of April 22 but did not reach his destination. Upon his return to Delhi, he was questioned by the Delhi Police, and his statement was recorded before a local court. Gurucharan Singh portrayed the character of Roshan Singh Sodhi in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’.
