‘Gadar 2’ beats Prabhas starrer ‘Bahubaali 2’ to become 2nd highest-grossing Hindi movie in India

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar 2’ has been breaking multiple box office records. The Anil Sharma directorial has now surpassed the lifetime business of SS Rajamouli's ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The movie is now trailing behind Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’. According to Taran Adarsh, ‘Gadar 2’, in its first week, minted ₹284.63 crore, in the second week ₹134.47 crore, and in the third week ₹ 63.35 crore. On its fifth weekend, the film earned ₹ 5.03 cr, bringing the total collection of the film to ₹512.35 crore.

‘Baahubali 2’ (Hindi), which was released in 2017, grossed ₹510.99 crore, while ‘Pathaan’, which was released in January 2023, earned ₹524.62 crore, in India.

A few weeks ago, the team of ‘Gadar 2’ held a press conference after the film's success.

Sunny talked about how he initially reacted after seeing the audience's love for ‘Gadar 2’. Sunny had said, ‘I was quite stressed before the release of the movie. When the movie was released, I cried and laughed the entire night. My father was around and he saw me. I told him, 'I have not had alcohol. Main khush aa main ki kara (I am happy, what can I do)'.’

‘Gadar 2’ is the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ which was released in theatres in 2001. Sunny Deol reprises the role of Tara Singh, while Ameesha Patel returns as Sakeena.
