Deepika Padukone confirms she is working on her dad Prakash Padukone's biopic

Basking in the success of her latest film 'Gehraiyaan', Deepika Padukone has confirmed that she will be donning the producer's hat once again, and is working on a biopic based on her father and Badminton champion Prakash Padukone.

In an interview with Cyrus Broacha, Deepika talked about the challenges that her father faced when he was training as a Badminton player. She also shared how he was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on the global sports map, this was much before the Indian cricket team won 1983 World Cup.

She said, “Actually, even before 83 happened, he was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on the global map as far as Indian sport is concerned. He won the World Championship in 1981, which was obviously before 1983.”

Deepika recounted how her dad practiced his sport in marriage halls, and used beams for practice as he lacked resources. She added, that he would have been far more superior if he had all the facilities available at his disposal.

Deepika recently co-produced sports drama '83', directed by Kabir Khan and starred Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev.

She was recently seen in Shakun Batra's film 'Gehraiyaan', where she shared screen space with actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. She will be seen next in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathan'.
